Your interest in teaching of oral English in China is very much appreciated, especially as there are a large number of  vacancies this semester in State Schools and universities throughout China that remain unfilled and in the semester/school year starting September 2003.

Should you be available to travel at short notice, China TESOL Teacher Register (CTTR) would like to accept your registration and offer your services through the Government Foreign Affairs Offices for placement in SAFEA Approved schools. CTTR provides details of individuals who have applied for teaching positions to over 260 educational institutions throughout China.  This is a free service without obligation.  China is a very safe country and is not troubled by international conflicts of interest. Many people from first language English countries are taking advantage of this situation.

All teachers are employed under the
terms, conditions and guidelines as promulgated by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs,PRC. State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs,[SAFEA] , Department of Cultural and Educational Affairs, and schools and universities are obliged to conform with the standard guidelines; including provision of SAFEA employment contract , payment of salaries, provision of benefits, minimum standard FREE accommodation, airfare reimbursement and in the general treatment of foreigners engaged as teachers of conversational /oral English.

After registration, processing of the initial application is a very speedy process, if the applicant is considered suitable. By following the procedures as detailed in the
How to get a Job an offer of from an institution can be as quick as 72 hours. CTTR lists your basic details, including academic qualifications and experience on our "Jobs Wanted" list that is sent to over 260 institutions via Provincial Foreign Affairs Offices.  The institutions then respond with offers and details about their institution and benefits they will offer you.

Applicants not ready to travel to China should also register and advise on the
Application Form when they will be available to travel (with surety), but should also consider the two main intake dates of February/March and August/September.  Vacancies are available all year; however, mid to late semester the options are limited and some benefits may be apportioned pro-rata.

All information is treated as "Confidential" and only made available on a need to know basis, and then only to the Beijing Education Evaluation Committee [BEEC], Provincial Foreign Affairs Offices [FAO] and the schools expressing an interest in you as a teacher. Please limit the number of documents submitted to a one or two page CV/resume, and only your most senior academic and ESL certificates.  Other documentation required is self-explanatory.

Most staff at China TESOL Teacher Register are bilingual and available during your entire contract period in China to answer any questions and provide interpretation of the guidelines should circumstances arise.  China TESOL can also coordinate travel and accommodation in Beijing for teachers and visiting relatives/friends of teachers registered with
China TESOL Teacher Registy.  However, please bear in mind that the Registry is not a travel agency and is therefore limited in provision of available services.

Please take the time to study the Web site and the many others providing information on Teaching in China.  Some sites are very good, in that they provide teaching suggestions and aides based on personal experience, others need to be viewed with an open mind. Job opportunities offering unusually high salaries abound on the Internet, but in reality are very few, and then are targeted at individuals with specialist qualifications.

Your questions are welcome and will be answered, but please bear in mind the more the questions the longer the reply. The
FAQ section of the Web site is comprehensive and the result of over three years of statistical analysis of the most frequently asked questions.

It is well worth taking the time to browse a Web Site established by Peter & Georgia Briggs, who were teachers in China 2003/2004  http://www.freewebs.com/briggs_updates/

Again, thank you for your interest and we look forward to you being welcome in China as a very special guest of CTTR, the government and people of China.
